
Traditional Chili
A wholesome blend of ground beef, kidney beans, and tomatoes is simmered with a medley of spices for a rich and satisfying comfort dish.

Ingredients
Chili
2 Large Red Onions, Chopped
5 Tablespoons Jalapeno Chilies with Seeds, Chopped
8 Garlic Cloves, Chopped
2 and 1/3 Pounds Ground Beef (15% Fat)
1/4 Cup Chili Powder
2 Tablespoons Ground Cumin
1 Teaspoon Sweet Paprika
2- 15 and 1/4-ounce Cans Kidney Beans, Drained
2 Cups Water or Broth
Toppings
Sour Cream
Cheddar Cheese, Grated
Green Onions, Chopped
Fresh Cilantro, Chopped
Instructions
- Heat Olitalia Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a heavy, large pot over medium-high heat.
- Add the onions and sauté until they are brown, about 6 minutes.
- Add the jalapeños and garlic; sauté 1 minute.
- Add the beef and sauté until brown, breaking up with back of fork, about 5 minutes.
- Add the chili powder, cumin, and paprika, then mix in the Ciao Authentica Crushed Tomatoes, beans, and broth and bring it all to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and simmer until the chili thickens and the flavors blend, stirring occasionally, about 45 minutes.
- Skim any fat from surface of chili.
- Ladle chili into bowls. Add desired toppings and serve.
- This chili recipe can be made 2 days ahead. Cool slightly. Refrigerate uncovered until cold, then cover and keep refrigerated. Bring to simmer before continuing, stirring occasionally.)
