  • Cook Time: 3 hr 30 min

Ingredients

3- 3 ½ lb Brisket
3 Teaspoons Salt, divided
1 Stick Butter, divided
1 Large Onion, sliced
3 Large Shallots, sliced
2 Garlic Cloves minced
½ Cup Red Wine
1 Cup Beef Stock
2 Tablespoons Balsamic Glaze
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire
1 Tablespoon Honey
1 Bunch Thyme
Parsley, to garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  2. Pat the brisket dry and season with 1 teaspoon of salt.
  3. In a large Dutch oven over medium heat, add 4 tablespoons of butter and melt. Placing the brisket fat side down, brown the brisket for about 10–15 minutes per side. Once browned, remove to a plate and set aside.
  4. To the pan, add the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter, onions, shallots, and garlic.
  5. Over medium heat, caramelize the onions, shallots, and garlic for about 8–10 minutes. Deglaze the pan with wine and stock. Reduce the liquid by half, then add 1 can of Ciao Authentica Crushed Tomatoes, balsamic, Worcestershire, honey, salt, and thyme. Mix to combine.
  6. Add the brisket back into the pan and cover. Bake for about 2 ½ to 3 hours. Then remove the cover and cook for another 20–25 minutes, uncovered.
  7. Allow it to cool slightly, slice, and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
