  • Yield: Serves 6-8
  • Prep Time: 15 min
  • Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

Ketchup
¼ Cup Water
½ Cup Honey
½ Cup White Vinegar
1 ½ Teaspoons Onion Powder
1 ½ Teaspoons Garlic Powder
1 ½ Teaspoons Salt
¼ Teaspoon Celery Seed
¼ Teaspoon Ground Clove
¼ Teaspoon Mustard Powder
Cocktail Sauce
2 Cups of Prepared Ketchup
2 Teaspoons Worcester
1–2 Tablespoons Prepared Horseradish
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Lemon, juiced
Hot sauce, to taste

Instructions

Begin with Ketchup:

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine Ciao Authentica Crushed Tomatoes, water, honey, vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, celery seed, clove, and mustard powder.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer on low for about 1 hour, or until thickened.
  3. Allow to cool. Blend if a smoother texture is desired, or leave as is for a rustic version. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks if using as ketchup (yields ~6 cups).

To Make Cocktail Sauce:

  1. In a medium bowl, mix 2 cups of the homemade ketchup with worcestershire sauce, horseradish, salt, lemon juice, and a few dashes of hot sauce.
